I want to begin saying something like, “Japan is a big place…blah blah..blah,” but the truth is Japan isn’t that big. Mind you, this bears no relation to the amount of things you can do there. Luckily for us mangy Americans, there are still a number of things we can do online instead. This brings us to the topic of the day: Japanese video viewing (online of course). Just like how the United States primarily uses YouTube, Japan has a site similar to it. NicoVideo is the culprit and is really an interesting place to browse. A unique trademark of this site is how comments are actually inserted in the video in real-time. So if you like a certain spot in the video and want to comment on it, all you have to do is write your comment, designate insertion time, and there you go! It might seem like all the comments would be annoying, but surprisingly it’s quite easy to just ignore them. And for the easily distracted, there’s always an option to turn them off…which I haven’t figured out yet
Anywho, NicoVideo is a wonderful place to get the scoop on Japanese anime trailers or video game footage unavailable in the measly United States. For a REAAALLLY big post I’ll be doing soon, I needed to look at some trailers, but I had a problem. Sign-up.
To prevent just anyone from oogling NicoVideo’s site (and rightly so), a sign-up is required. It isn’t that hard & since I’ve taken about 3 years of Japanese and still remember how to read a little bit, it wasn’t too hard for me to navigate. But no matter if you know how to read Japanese or not, it can still be a little intimidating to some I’m sure. With that in mind, I made a guide for everyone to see so now YOU can access some great videos you wouldn’t see in months…or worse, at all. Now remember, this site works similar to Youtube in that they don’t host pornography (at least I think). And posting copywritten material without permission is a no-no. Just a note, you might want Firefox or Explorer to remember your password so you don’t forget. And in addition, you can even search it in English! Well, enough of me talking, here are the instructions as of right now in 10 SUPER EASY steps:
1. Click the red text in the box to “log-on.”
2. You’ll be prompted for a screen-name and password, but since you don’t have them, click the designated peach-red button to make a brand new account.
3. Now you’ll want to click the gray button unless you have a Japanese Bank account for the gold one.
4. Feel free to enlarge the picture. Basically you fill out the form as you would a normal form, then click the button highlighted in the green.
5. You might want to enlarge this pic too. After making sure all your information is right, read the ToS (ha, yeah right), enter the captcha (in english), and click the accept button.
6. Click the link and you’ll probably want to check your email now.
7. The Japanese email you have, click it. Then click the only link in it to verfify user registration.
8. You should now be at this screen. Click the only clickable link to get to your account home page.
9. Scrrrolllllll down and click the blue button which says yes to something. I don’t know what it answered, but just click yes.
10. Now you can search to your heart’s delight! In addition you can visit dustloop for Blazblue NicoVid links! I don’t know why you would ever want to, but if you want to log out, just goto your nickname in the upper-most menu, then go to the last option in the tab. Click it and you’ve logged out.
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!! AGAIN, SEARCHING IN ENGLISH IS COMPLETELY FINE.
If you want to download certain flash vids, there are a billion ways to and even more plugins for firefox to do so. It’s not hard. And if you want to add a video to your favorites, just visit this MoeMania.org to figure it out.
“wwwww” means “lolololololol”
“kami” basically means awesome, godly
“ktkr” basically means “omgomg”
“wktk” basically means “I’ve been waiting for this”
“SawaSawa” means people mumbling, chatting. (MoeMania.org)

Thats fine, but how are we supposed to USE it ? Type searches in japanese without knowing japanese ?
Yes, English is fine. I’ll put that screen cap in right now to clarify. Sorry about that

Thats not what i meant, obviously using english is fine, but how many interesting videos can you possibly find just with english searches ? I would think not many. i would rightfully think that the majority of people there use japanese descriptions and japanese tags. So the whole point of going to nicovideo is still kinda…
Or you could wiki/google/google translate to get the Japanese equivalent whatever you want to search for, then CnP it into nico’s searchbar.
V. helpful to those without nico accounts, mmm.
Aaah, niconico douga, home of the live wristcutter feeds. My friend reprimanded me for laughing at it, but I must stress that I wasn’t laughing at the gore, but the stupidity of the action. whether it’s because they’re an emo public exhibitionist or they think it’s funny and they’re proving something, you just don’t do that. Sorta equivalent to laughing at running streakers.
But yes, Nico is great for BB when you want to feel how inferior you are by watching Shadow’s all-four-drive-hits combos or R1 beasting with CS Noel ;-;…
Oh and FaS, don’t worry about my site not working for ya. Prolly something to do with that webhost. I’ll just tell you when I move the domain mask to my new blog, if that ever comes around in the next five years >.>
Lol, I don’t feel inferior @ all
I raep everyone. I’m equal oppurtunity
And yeah, just lemme know about your site when you get to it. I’ll make a post so you can get back some traffic. Oh and if you’re on ps3 blazblue, add “glencocoe” – we can play sometimes :p

Oh and karry, yeah, it’s a bit hard to just tell in a sense. You have to know how Katakana works. It’s not terribly hard, but I’ll tell you what, I’ll write a post about how to read half of the mainstream Japanese you see
I’m sure you’ll like that

Hello there. I’m sorry I haven’t “replied.” The reason I put quotes is because during the process of switching servers and domain propagation, my domains database kept switching between godaddy’s and my previous host. So you commented on the “older” one, so i thought your comment was lost.
But anyways, I’ll investigate this very soon. I’ll email you too
