Although I’ve only been in the blogging business for almost exactly half a year, I was lucky enough to catch the tail end and make a fun post like this. At first I was just going to skip it, but I realized part of having a blog and doing this sort of thing needs posts like these. It kind of reminds me of the whole 10k views/1k comments deal. So instead of skipping the new year post, I decided to do it joyfully. Have a happy new year and I hope you all enjoy

Best Anime Overall EVER:

Bakemonogatari was a true gem this year. Though many of you might already know, I haven’t even finished this series yet. I only got up to episode 7, then had to stop for school and for other reasons. The production value of only one 24 minute episode was better than any other show I’ve seen. The colors popped, the characters were fun. Wonderful ideas for the invisible ghost monsters…just an all around great show.

Best Comedic Anime Ever:

Azumanga Daioh was an anime I wanted to put into the “charming” section, but I think Kimi Ni Todoke wins that spot. Surely. For those who haven’t seen Azumanga Daioh, you’re missing out. This show has taught me comedy doesn’t always have to be SOOOOOOO outrageously funny to be good. Charming, yet witty, this series foams at the mouth with an element of “kawaii” I can barely even fathom. I don’t care if you’re a girl, guy, dog, whatever, check this out now!

Most Annoying Ending EVER (SPOILER):

Gantz had an ingenious little idea to propel it along, but the show in my opinion was mediocre. I hated to pseudo-3D monsters and how basically all the remotely cool people died. It was just so dumb. The last boss felt like it lasted for 5 or 10 episodes too. I just kept asking myself when it would end, when I really should have asked how. You don’t end an action show with someone pretending to shoot a gun at a train that’s about to smash them to bits. You just don’t! Whatever. Not my loss.

Best Manga Adapted Show EVER:

Full Metal Alchemist is simply the best mainstream show around. Everyone loves it. Even people who barely watch anime. I was outside with someone outside of the dorms I used to live in, and he thought the best part was when Mustang burned the hell out of Lust. I thought the same. See? Epic.

Most Original Show EVER:

Okaayyyy, I know this seems a little weird for those that know me, but come on, you have to admit the reason everyone loves Bleach is because there are so many different things from this show we’ve never seen before. The terminology is daftly original. The characters are fun to identify with…not to mention how many characters are in the show. All around, when something cool’s going down, we ALL want to see. Especially when Ichigo gets this whole Hollow power under control…or not.

Most Solid Romance/Partnership EVER:

Maka & Soul Eater Evans wasn’t as mushy as some other romances out there, but in the end and at different times through out the story, they had some major problems. Soul had to deal with how to support Maka and be powerful, Maka had to figure out how to wield Soul properly and do certain techniques…the list goes on and on. I loved their chemistry because it mimicked real life better than any other show I’ve seen yet.

Best Male Character EVER:

Akira from Eden of the East is the best all around guy. I was going to say Spike from Cowboy BeBop, but I like this guy better because he’s a little bit more in my own demographic. You know, young guy who runs around naked and that sort of thing. He’s a great agent, knows how to be smart, and always knows how to keep the love interest at ease. Who wouldn’t want a guy like that?

Best Female EVER:

Haruko from Fooly Cooly is the best because she’s so damn weird, but at the same time, seems to know what she’s doing without actually knowing. I know it sounds really stupid, but bear with me. She seduced the main character’s dad and even him. She’s a keeper.

Best Japanese Idol EVER:

Fuko is the best idol around. She has boobies bigger than my face…and makes it look good. Out of the many bone-thin idols Japan’s got running around, I think Fuko has the most promise, and certainly is one of the most well known. I don’t really spend much times looking at her pictures, but if you haven’t seen any pictures or videos, you should check some out just because.

Best Hentai/Ecchi Artist EVER:

Nishieda, or “Nishida,” is a staple in the ecchi world. His artwork is so stunning, I had to take a couple days just to look at his work. Later on I’ll be posting a little gallery of all his stuff, but for now, just know that Nishida is where it is TRULY at.

Best SoundTrack EVER:

Final Fantasy X was by far the best soundtrack I’ve ever heard. The range was phenominal. Feeling dreamy? Classical? Kind of quirky? It really doesn’t matter since it has it all. Not to mention is was a double disc of L337ness.

Best Movie Villain EVER:

Deacon Frost off of Blade wasn’t exactly recent, but if you saw this movie, you’d understand perfectly. I mean this guy is soooo evil. He has loyalty to no one. Cares about only himself, and would even kill an innocent Japanese schoolgirl to get there. And plus this guy has style! Did you see the clothes he was wearing? I thought the ending was a bit of a cop-out with the syrum thing…but whatever. Deacon Frost makes it cool to be bad.

Best Console Game EVER:

Jeeeeez, I was worrying about how or what I would pick for this category. There are a LOT of games that I really like, but if I was locked in a room for a week with only one game, I’d pick BlazBlue every time. Online capability is great. Depth of the fighting system is fun and calculated…plus you get to play as a lolita vampire (hint hint…mina tepes…vampire bund) right off the bat. Litchi is sweet. And V-13 is sweet. If you don’t believe me, look at these videos. THIS is all the amazing pimp stuff you can do in this game. And it’s all possible.

Best iPhone Game EVER:

N.O.V.A. stands for Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance and doesn’t really mean anything special, but when you hook up with the gameplay, it feels like you have Halo on your phone. Seriously. Sniper is a serious weapon, those skilled enough can own with just an assault rifle (like in Halo), rocket launchers rule, and grenades do what they’re supposed to do. EVERYTHING in this game is perfect. Please go and buy it and write that I recommended it in the comments.
