HOW IN THE HELL TO TYPE (Japanese)

HOW IN THE HELL TO TYPE (Japanese)
Wanna learn this?

Wanna learn this?

How to text/use ??? emoticons here! I’ve been meaning to get to this a long time ago, but I’ve been a bit lazy. Jeez, I use the word “a bit…” quite a bit haha. Ok bleah bleah, on to more important things. I’l make this quick for you. Note: This is for Vista, as I don’t have XP installed on my machine @ the moment. More specifically, I have Vista Ultimate, 64bit. However, this will work on ALL Vista OSs. Just follow the steps and you should be turning Japanese in no time!

1. You should already have Japanese pre-installed, but if for some reason it’s not on your machine, then do so now. Refer to this link for help.

2. Open up the control panel

japstep1

3. Goto Regional and Language Options > then “Keyboard & Languages” tab. Now click, “Change Keyboards.” A “Text Services & Input Languages” window should appear.

japstep2

4.
Click the “Add” button in the current tab you’re in. Add, “Japanese,” “Microsoft IME,” (Inc correction’s only for 64bit, so if it doesn’t show up, don’t worry) Press “Ok.”

japstep3

5. You should now be back @ the “Text Services & Input Languages” window. Proceed to the 3rd tab dubbed, “Advanced Key Settings,” & set your hot-keys. IMPORTANT: Make sure NONE of these combinations conflict with any other hot-keys you might have set or forgotten about. Especially programs running in the background. I STRONGLY suggest setting “switching between languages” to (alt+shift). Don’t use Alt+tab for anything either, that’s the windows flip default. After you’re done with that, press “Apply,” then “Ok.”

6. Go back to the first tab & click “Ok” if you’re all done. Now if you KNOW what you’re doing, then click properties to modify japanese entry. To learn how to get in the habit of typing in Japanese, go here @ autopenhosting. I found a second link to Washington.edu, this link has great pictures to show you how to type in Japanese & what to look for.

japstep6

7. You should now be done! In your taskbar (lower-right), you should see an “EN,” or “JP.” Switch between them using the hot-keys you set. Enjoy!
